Wales winger Rabbi Matondo considers he make a big impression from the Bundesliga such as his former Manchester City team-mate and can emulate Jadon Sancho.
Matondo followed England teenager Sancho, who has scored 16 goals in 55 appearances for Borussia Dortmund in simplifying the Premier League for Germany once he joined Schalke in January in an # 11m movement, because he moved into 2017.
The 19-year-old scored his first Schalke goal in the success at RB Leipzig last month until he was recalled to Ryan Giggs Wales squad for the upcoming Qualifiers against Croatia and Slovakia.
It is only 1 goal and it is just my first start of the season, explained Matondo.
But I can get a lot more moments this year and bring about goals and aids and help the team climb the table.
If I could do and he (Sancho) has done thus far then I will be very satisfied.
He is a great player. Because being Manchester City with him how good he could be and just how good hell be, Ive always understood that. Hopefully he can help me.
Jadon did not make me go into Germany, but of course hes doing this well there and when it came about I thoughtwhy not?
It was not that I couldnt observe a pathway (in City), I think in myself. At Manchester City it is tough – of the players are players.
However, it was more that I had the chance to go and play first-team football and at that time I didnt have that at Manchester City.
Therefore I preferred to play first-team football so I took the opportunity.
Half a year younger than Sancho, matondo, never left a look and just turned 19 final month.
The winger, who was labelled the player at City after beating the likes of Kyle Walker, Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling in rate tests, has only made two starts for Schalke.
However he insists his profession is heading in the right direction under the guidance of Huddersfield head trainer David Wagner.
Ive still got a lot to improve and find out but Im contented with the way things are moving, said Matondo, who currently has three Wales caps after making his debut last November.
Hopefully there will be a lot more moments for Schalke this year and hopefully that will encourage me to play more for Wales.
When I was younger I always believed in myself. I thought: you will be playing in a good level when you are 17, 18, 19.
Thats what I am doing at the moment. We shall find (about the future), but Ill give it my all
