Aidan OBrien senses 10 furlongs and ground may prove conditions for Magical from the Qipco Champion Stakes.
The versatile filly is bidding with won the Fillies & Mares race – after which she went all guns blazing to Enable in the Breeders Cup.
Magical discovered Permit a tough nut to crack on more than one occasion and was busy again this season – but cries at the Tattersalls Gold Cup and Irish Champion Stakes have noticed her add to her Group One drag.
She finished fifth in the month first time, Prix de lArc de Triomphe – in nine – that she has been from the two because the race this past year.
OBrien said:Shes an amazing filly. Trips that are different are run over by her – all floor comes for her, and she comes from her races great.
Clearly she conducted from the Arc, that was not that long ago. But she seems to be in good shape, and we are excited about running .
We think on soft ground, 10 furlongs is probably her trip. She should be quite comfortable at it with this floor anyhow.
OBrien also runs I Can Fly – agonisingly beaten in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes this past year, but with only a triumph at Dundalk to show for her efforts since.
We think I Will Fly might prefer the ground, explained OBrien.
Her best run came now this past year over a mile on soft earth, but she has form over a mile and a quarter also. Shes in great shape also.
Theres been plenty of money to William Haggas Addeybb this week but shifting to the inner hurdles track may not be in favour of their mud-lover.
Haggas said:Were delighted the race is about and we are thrilled to be participating in Obviously we hope it rains nonstop from now till the race!
Magical is a high tech filly, and he has all on to beat her. He has got a bit to locate, but he is a horse once the floor is soft.
We are going into the race fresh, but hell probably have to be if he is going to win.
He has had a good preparation and also he had a nice gallop at Newmarket a week, which will have profited him.
Id say he is a long-shot on form, but if he receives his terms he could encounter it.
Deirdre was a surprise winner of the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood – and to prove was no fluke, she subsequently seemed from the Irish Champion Stakes behind .
Yoshitake Hashida, assistant trainer to Mitsuru Hashida, stated:She appears in very good shape. She came at all – thus far, so good with no problems.
She was unfortunate at Leopardstown, also I feel the most frustrated man was Oisin Murphy. It is a big day for Oisin, since he is going to be confirmed as the winner jockey – that is very good.
They have moved the race to the interior monitor, which can be good. I think thats the principal reason weve decided to operate on Champions Day, instead of going to the Breeders Cup or something like that.
We believe she is in far better state than she had been at (Royal) Ascot – we believe shes in top condition now.
We first met Magical in the Prince of Waless Stakes and acquired a little closer to her at the Irish Champion. Whereas yet another very good race in France has run, Weve had a great break because the Irish Champion.
Wed prefer faster earth, but I hope she can run a fantastic race.
Having come so close in a lot of Group Ones, John Gosdens Coronet appeared destined to not win a single – but she broke her duck on her penultimate begin in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud, and then followed up in the Prix Jean Romanet second time outside.
Shell head after this to the paddocks – lose, win or draw.
We waited all that time for a Group One – and shes won 2! Said Richard Evans, who oversees Denford Stud, owners of Coronet.
Its over we could have wished for – and this is it, her last run.
Were just imagining. Soft earth wont be minded by her – she would not want it too thick, but shes fine on soft.
Clearly Mr Haggas horse (Addeybb) will love the floor, and thats currently in there, but we would just be delighted to be in the framework – a triumph would be outstanding.
We were only a length behind the past year, and hopefully theyll be shut again, but I believe disgusting and Mr Haggas would be the two to beat – and there might be a few surprise packages.
A win would be wonderful and a terrific way to finish her racing career. Shell be new – she has not run since winning in France, therefore it may come and Magical ran from the Arc.
The great ones do not come along too often, and it was fine that the choice to remain in training was rewarded.
